We the people of AGBAJA (ENUGU) made up of primarily natives and indigenes of Udi, Ezeagu, Enugu North, Enugu South, Enugu East, Oji River, Uzo-Uwani and Igbo Etiti Local Government Areas of Enugu State having firmly resolved to live in unity and harmony as one people dedicated to promotion of mutual co-existence, peace, justice and love as members of one great clan/nation.

We do hereby resolve to give ourselves a Constitution for good governance of our clan/nation based on principles, freedom, equity and equal rights of the Federating Communities, peoples and persons.

Guided by a living document

The Agbaja (Enugu) Leaders of Thought Constitution defines our name, aims and objectives, membership, management structure and the functions of our various organs β€” from the Board of Trustees to the Standing Committees.

1.1 Β· Article One: Name

The name of the Association shall be known as: AGBAJA (ENUGU) LEADERS OF THOUGHT.

2.0 Β· Article Two: Aims & Objectives
  • Create, maintain and promote harmony and equal participation in governance.
  • Cater for the general interest of Agbaja people in diaspora.
  • Raise funds and pull resources for development of Agbaja land.
  • Condemn and expose all criminal acts.
  • Protect Agbaja people, lands and natural resources.
  • Project the interest of Agbaja people anywhere in the world.
  • Celebrate outstanding Agbaja citizens.
  • Advocate for welfare, progress and development of Agbaja people and land.
3.0 Β· Article Three: Membership
  • Membership is acquired through birth or marriage in Agbaja Nation.
  • Open to all indigenes of the Agbaja Nation above the age of 18 years.
4.0 Β· Article Four: Management Structure
  • Board of Trustees – 21 members representing geographical spread and service.
  • Executive Committee – Chairmen and Secretaries of Standing Committees.
  • Standing Committees – Strategy & Planning, Legal, Education & Innovation, Contacts & Mobilisation, Youth Mobilisation, Women Mobilisation, Finance, Media & Public Relations, Elders/Cultural, Conferences & Publications.
5.0 Β· Article Five: Functions

The Board of Trustees is the highest decision-making body, meeting at least twice yearly. The Executive Committee comprises the Chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary, Assistant Secretary, Financial Secretary, Treasurer and PRO, each with clearly defined duties regarding leadership, administration, finance, communication and defence of the Constitution.

Detailed provisions on roles such as Chairman (executive head and trustee), Vice Chairman, Secretary, Assistant Secretary, Financial Secretary, Treasurer and Public Relations Officer ensure accountability, transparency and effective governance of the Association.

Management & Standing Committees

Agbaja (Enugu) Leaders of Thought operates through a structured framework that ensures strategy, law, education, mobilisation, finance, media, culture and conferences are handled with clarity and accountability.

Strategy & Planning

Develops plans and strategies, serves as think tank and presents matters for general discussion.

Legal

In charge of all legal matters; advises the Association on legal issues and assignments.

Education & Innovation

Develops educational programmes and innovative ideas across primary, secondary and tertiary levels.

Contacts & Mobilisation

Contacts and mobilises stakeholders; organises satellite and suburb communities into vibrant units.

Youth Mobilisation

Identifies and mobilises youths for security, socio-political, cultural and economic development.

Women Mobilisation

Harnesses existing women groups and forms new ones relevant to Association activities.

Finance Committee

Generates funds, identifies funding sources and engages individuals, groups and corporate bodies.

Media & Public Relations

Handles publicity, media relations and promotion of the Association’s internal and public image.

Elders & Cultural

Oversees traditions, culture, chieftaincy matters, land disputes and festivals with traditional rulers.

Conferences & Publications

Organises conferences, seminars and symposia; handles publications of the Association.

Offices & Leadership Roles

Chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary, Assistant Secretary, Financial Secretary, Treasurer and Public Relations Officer provide executive leadership, uphold the Constitution, manage finances and ensure communication with members, in line with detailed duties set out in Article Five.
